Coach Shiffman continues as Womens First Team Coach

Ellerslie AFC are delighted to announce the re-appointment of Ryan Shiffman as Womens First Team Head Coach for 2025.  Ryan is one the most experienced coaches in the competition and has a track record of working with our up and coming youth players.

Ryan was also recently awarded a NZF/OFC A Coaching Licence which means he holds the top coaching badge outside of professional football.

"I'm really excited to continue in the role of Head Coach role for the Women's Premier team.  This club means a lot to me and so does the success of our Women's Programme.  We are developing a team that wants to compete with the best across New Zealand and I think in 2025 we will definitely showcase that!  In 2024, we weren't able to hit our stride and things happened to not go our way in many instances.  I think we had a lot more about us than people gave us credit for and I know we have a group of players that are determined to prove that this time around.
As we continue to confirm our staff and players for 2025 through the coming months, I think you're going to find a very driven group of people with a common goal of qualifying for National League for our Prems and competing for the top league spots for our Reserves team while also developing both teams to play at higher levels.  This is a group that wants to take up extra trainings, that wants to get feedback on their play through things like video sessions and IPPs, a group that always pulls together to support each other, really enjoys their football and the team environment, and a group that makes genuine friendships along the way.
While we are all excited for the upcoming holidays, I am really excited for our 2025 campaign to begin!"

Our Womens First Team compete in the NRFL Womens Premier League, widely recognised as the top club competition in NZ - the top 4  clubs in the 2025 League will also qualify for the Womens National League which will see the best of the NRFL compete against the rest of the country - some of these sides will continue as franchises rather than clubs for 2025.

The 2025 Womens NRFL Premier League will kickoff on the weekend of the 22nd of March. 

Pre-Season training/trials for the 2025 season will commence on the 23rd of January 2025 - please contact Ryan Shiffman on coaching@ellersliefootball.org.nz if you wish to trial for 2025.

Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays

Time: 645pm-830pm

Venue: Tuesdays @ Michaels Ave Turf Field & Thursdays @ Ngahue Turf Field
