2025 Season

2025 will be another exciting year for our Girls and Womens Programme. Our Womens team will aim to return to the Women’s National League after missing out in 2024. They will begin their campaign competing in the NRFL Women’s Premier League. For information regarding trials for our Women’s team please contact Ryan Shiffman.

Our U14s and U16s will compete in their respective NRFL grades while we continue to focus our efforts on the growth of girls teams in the grades below.

Girls only Tamaki League

We hope to continue to grow our Girls Only Tamaki League after it’s inaugural year in 2024. You can find more information here for our U6 – U9 Girls Only Teams: https://tamakileague.co.nz/girls-only-leagues

Trials

Trials will be held in February 2025. See the calendar for trial dates for girls.  We encourage all girls to attend trials to help us get numbers and teams right. Trials will be overseen by a group of assessors.  Go to the trials page for more information.

Season

Under 6s - Under 9s

  • Girls can choose to play in either an all-girls team or in a mixed team of girls and boys. Teams in these grades play in an Ellerslie in-house competition at Michaels Ave Turf Field on Saturday mornings.

Under 10s - Under 13s

  • Teams in the Under 10s competitions and above play in Auckland-wide competitions. For most grades, there will be grading games at the start of the season.  Based on their results, teams are put into their divisions for a championship competition. Teams in the Under 7-9's will play in the Ellerslie in-house competition.
  • Our staff carefully consider which competition each team plays in to optimise their development.
  • Girls play on a Saturday morning during the season.  The younger girls play early and playing times get progressively later for the older players.
  • Games are not played on any weekends in the April school holidays, the middle and last weekend of the July holidays, but games are usually scheduled on King's Birthday weekend.

Under 13s - Under 16s

  • Top graded teams play in a competition that includes Auckland and Hamilton teams on Saturday mornings. You can find out more about our top graded teams on our Talent Pathway page.
  • Our staff carefully consider which competition each team plays in to optimise their development.
  • For community teams, games are not played on any weekends in the April school holidays, the middle and last weekend of the July holidays, but games are usually scheduled on King's Birthday weekend.

Coaches & Managers for teams

Each team needs a coach and manager. We are always looking for volunteers who are keen to fill these roles. You provide a vital link between the club and the team. This will help with planning. We are working hard to make sure we have coaches in place for our 2025 season. We also encourage our older youth and our senior women to coach younger teams and this is something that the Club and teams are very supportive of.  If you would like to be involved in coaching a team this year, please e-mail Ryan Shiffman

As a coach of a girls’ team, you can attend coaching courses run by Ryan, specifically for coaches of girls’ teams and also receive mentoring and coaching support from Ryan.
