Heading Girls & Women's Football at Ellerslie is Ryan Shiffman (Director of Coaching) in conjunction with Callum McKenzie - please email Ryan Shiffman in the first instance with any queries.

2022 Season

2022 will be another exciting year for our Girls and Women's Programme with the Women's 1st team competing in the NRFL Women's Premier League with a mirrored Reserves league.   We hope it's the catalyst for a significant year ahead for our Girls/Women's Pathway.

Keep up to date on things throughout the year by following us on our dedicated girls pages on Facebook and Instagram

Trials will be held in February & March 2022. See the calendar for trial dates for girls.  We encourage all girls to attend trials to help us get numbers and teams right. Trials will be overseen by a group of assessors.  Go to the trials page for more information.

  • Players Under 7-9's, girls can choose to play in either an all-girls team or in a mixed team of girls and boys. Teams in the Under 10's competitions and above play in Auckland-wide competitions. For most grades, there will be grading games at the start of the season.  Based on their results, teams are put into their divisions for a championship competition. Teams in the Under 7-9's will play in the Ellerslie in-house competition.

  • The Director of Coaching and coaches carefully consider which competition each team plays in to optimise their development.

  • Girls play on a Saturday morning during the season.  The younger girls play early and playing times get progressively later for the older players.

  • Games are not played on any weekends in the April school holidays, the middle and last weekend of the July holidays, but games are usually scheduled on Queen's Birthday weekend.

  • Women's teams play on Sunday - normally at 11.00am, although our Women's 1st & Reserves normally play at 1.00pm or 3.00pm.

  • There are tournaments throughout the season where Ellerslie teams can play against other club teams, which the club is advised of and passes onto the appropriate managers to action.

Coaches & Managers for teams

Each team needs a coach and manager. We are always looking for volunteers who are keen to fill these roles. You provide a vital link between the club and the team. Please email Ashleigh, our Operations Manager know if you are interested. This will help with planning. We are working hard to make sure we have coaches in place for our 2022 season.

We encourage our older youth and our senior women to coach younger teams and this is something that the Club and teams are very supportive of.  If you are a youth player and would like to be involved in coaching a team this year, please e-mail Ryan Shiffman

As a coach of a girls’ team, you can attend coaching courses run by Ryan, specifically for coaches of girls’ teams and also receive mentoring and coaching support from Ryan. Click here on our Coach Development page to get more information.
