The Club is dedicated to assisting with coach development which will allow our coaches to better their own coaching knowledge and skills. We take coach education seriously and believe that better coaches help to develop better players, we strongly encourage coaches to attend courses and workshops run by both the Northern Region Football (NRF) and New Zealand Football (NZF). The club also runs a series of informal coaching workshops at Michaels Ave at no cost.
From the recent club survey, the club received feedback that more support was needed in the coaching support area, with some parents nominated to being the coach for a team, having little knowledge or confidence to do this. With that in mind, Fred de Jong and Ryan Shiffman have planned the following workshops and development opportunities for coaches in the 2022 season.

Age Appropriate Sessions (upstairs in the Ellerslie Clubrooms)
This course looks at what type of sessions we would run for each age group to ensure that coaches are delivering the correct information and style of session for each of the age groups. All attendees break into groups based on the age of their team and receive sessions appropriate to that age group. The sessions are explained by a coach and how they would adapt them for various situations. Questions are then asked by the coaches to gain a further understanding of these sessions before running them with their own team
