Coach Development & Referee Courses

Coaching_Course_Overview.png

The Club is dedicated to assisting with coach development which will allow our coaches to better their own coaching knowledge and skills. We take coach education seriously and believe that better coaches help to develop better players, we strongly encourage coaches to attend courses and workshops run by both the Northern Region Football (NRF) and New Zealand Football (NZF). The club also runs a series of informal coaching workshops at Michaels Ave at no cost.

From the recent club survey, the club received feedback that more support was needed in the coaching support area, with some parents nominated to being the coach for a team, having little knowledge or confidence to do this. With that in mind, Fred de Jong and Ryan Shiffman have planned the following workshops and development opportunities for coaches in the 2021 season.

The sessions are explained by a coach and how they would adapt them for various situations.  Questions are then asked by the coaches to gain a further understanding of these sessions before running them with their own team

      COMMUNITY REFEREES (CR's)

The Club organises an in-house CR course for interested participants.  It is held on one night for approximately 3.5 hours (usually a Wednesday) in the clubrooms at Michaels Avenue Reserve.  These courses provide parents and players with a base general knowledge of the FIFA Laws of the Game, giving them the confidence to referee matches on the weekend.  The course cost is free.  There is a cost if the participant wants to wear a CR shirt which is subsidised by the club.

To register your interest to attend a CR or other referee course - please contact Kelly Bolus

We can also advise of places on courses at other venues if we don't have sufficient registrations to run an in-house course.

Further options for referee development to become a Level 1 or higher referee are available as well.
