Ellerslie AFC's At Home Challenges

STAGE 2

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all looking forward to the country moving out of Alert Level 4 to Level 3. Even though the changes may not be too major, it at least shows we are moving in the right direction against the virus.

As we still have a few weeks to go before we can get back training in groups I wanted to to send you a couple of links to video's with some exercises you can do with just a ball and a wall.

As a kid, I had a wall in my backyard that I spent many, many hours kicking the ball against to improve my touch on the ball and my skills. Passing, ball control, turning, volleying, are all things you can improve on your own against a wall.

Find a wall and have a go - just be careful of windows!!

STAGE 1

There are plenty of examples on the internet to keep you busy and test your skills and we will send you through some links each week to exercises we feel will improve your technique and your manipulation of the ball.

We would love to see how you are progressing with your football through lockdown so please send through any video you have of your juggling, skills and tricks so we can load them onto the Ellerslie Facebook page.

For this week we will start with some ball mastery exercises. All you need is a ball and a couple of cones or drink bottles.

We would love to see some of your efforts so please take some video and post it to our social pages (links at bottom of page) or email to seniorcoaching@ellersliefootball.org.nz

EXERCISE 1 - BALL MASTERY
The first video shows 5 exercises you can try at home. See if you can do each exercise 10 times without mistakes before moving on to the next one.

EXERCISE 2 - TURNING

The second video shows you some different ways you can turn with the ball. Maybe you can work out a new turn for yourself as well.

EXERCISE 3 - FLICK UPS

The final video is a bit of fun and shows you how to impress your friends by flicking the ball off the ground to start juggling. Don't worry if your juggling is not so good, getting the ball off the ground in different ways is a good start.
