 Season Dates

At the time of writing we have been advised that the first round of 2017 competitive games for all Junior and Youth teams will be on the weekend of 1st/2nd April 2017.
Games will be played (weather and ground conditions permitting) on all weekends except the middle weekends of the April and July School Holidays.

Please note some youth teams MAY be required to play games in September if such matches are vital to determining a league winner etc.

Internet Based Registration System and Database

The Club will again utilise an online registration and database system (called ClubHub) for 2017.
The key features include:
Online player/parent/guardian registration and payment facilities.
Online facilities for members to change contact information, view financial transactions, pay outstanding accounts, change passwords etc.
Online ‘Noticeboard' for up to the minute information and messages.
Enhanced ability for administrators to email all members individually, in teams, in grades, in selections of teams etc.
You can access the registration system by clicking the “Go to Player Registration” Link at the foot of this page
PLEASE NOTE - 2016 Ellerslie players and parents can shortcut the 2017 registration process by logging in using their username and password from 2016 (for any family member). You will be taken to the registration screen with partially completed data from last year. Please CAREFULLY CHECK AND UPDATE YOUR DATA if necessary before completing registration.
If you cannot recall your 2016 username and password you can register again from scratch for 2017.

*The Club recommends all players play in their correct age grade and will make every endeavour to place all players in their correct age grade.
*For 7th grade and above, female players are encouraged to play in girls' grades where available. Click here for details on Girls' Football at Ellerslie
Where registration numbers do not allow teams to be formed in correct age grades, players may need to be moved to another grade to allow a team to be formed. Players can play up a grade in certain circumstances, but almost never down a grade (an Auckland Football Federation dispensation is required to play down)
Registrations in all grades are accepted subject to sufficient players numbers to form a team.

Subscriptions (Registration Fees)

Fees for this season have an increase in Junior/Youth grades. The Club continues to face cost increases in some areas and contunues to provide a playing shirt for all players for the season.
The Club tries very hard to keep fees to a minimum as it continues try and offset cost increases incurred in delivering the services members expect.

The Early Bird discount amount ($25.00 per player) can be deducted where subscription fees are paid in full before midnight on Monday 27th February 2017. Paying fees before that date enables members to pay the lowest possible amount.

Requests to Play With Friends or Classmates

The Club receives a number of requests for players to be placed in the same team as a friend or classmate. The Club will attempt to meet such requests, but cannot guarantee to do so, particularly in graded teams.

Player and Coach Development Opportunities

The Coaching Department is planning a number of player and coach development courses in 2017.
Go to our Player Development  and Coach Development (updated soon) pages for further infromation and details on how to register.

School Holiday Skills Programs

This year our first School Holiday program will start in the April school holidays. This course is ideally placed to upskill during the early part of the season. Ideal for those returning from last year, or those just starting in the game.
We have similar courses running during both weeks of the July School Holidays and during the first week of the September school holidays.
Get more details and registration instructions for all courses here.

The Junior/Youth Division holds pre season trials for 9th Grade players and older. These trials form part of various processes whereby the Club attempts to ensure all players play in a team, and at a level, appropriate to their skills, commitment etc.
We request all players attend trials if at all possible. Please go to the trials page for further information and details including dates and times, what to bring etc.

If a player is likely to be unavailable for periods during the season (ie other sports, extended holiday etc) please let the trial organiser know to ensure that teams have the appropriate number of players for the season.

Competitions and Leagues

Ellerslie Junior/Youth teams play in two different competition structures as follows:

Tamaki League

These leagues are provided for 6th to 9th grade players with teams taking part from various local clubs and schools. Emphasis is on participation, fun, enjoyment and the team environment. Games are competitive but no league tables are maintained for 6th to 9th grades. Teams in 6th to 9th grades are streamed mid season based on the number and margin of victories in an attempt to ensure matches are as even as possible in the second half of the season. Games are normally played in the general east Auckland area.
Players in the 6th-8th Grades will be allocated to teams in the Tamaki League and advised of their team at the Tamaki League "Muster Day" on Sunday 19th March 2017. Please refer to the calendar for details.
Players in the 9th Grade, who are not included in AFF terams after the February trials, will be included in a Tamaki League team and advised by email.
Auckland Football Federation (AFF) Leagues
These leagues are administered entirely by the local Federation and involve teams from throughout the Auckland Football Federation area. These leagues are competitive with teams initially placed in grades requested by their Clubs, then re-graded before the championship rounds start around week 8 of the season. Medals are awarded to championship winners. Games may be played against clubs from Auckland Football Federation, and, for metropolitan, conference and combined  leagues, Northern Football Federation Clubs.

Match Days

Matches are played on Saturdays for all Junior/Youth Grades except:
5th Grade (Starters) - Friday (3:30 pm to 4:15 pm)
13th Grade Metro/Conference - Sunday
14th Grade Metro/Conference - Sunday
15th Grade Metro/Conference - Sunday
16th Grade Metro/Conference - Sunday
17th Grade Metro/Conference - Sunday
Detailed draws are published here for all grades approx 1 to 2 weeks before the start of the season.

Training Times/Days

All teams are trained weekly by volunteer Coaches who freely give of their own time to assist the players and the Club. For this reason training days and times are normally decided by the Coach in discussion with the members of the team. Most teams train one night a week but Premier, Metropolitan and Conference grade teams are expected to train twice weekly. Parents and players need to be aware of these requirements when offered/accepting places in graded teams.

In the event that a player in a Tamaki League team cannot attend a particular training day and time arranged by the team, the Club will attempt to find an alternative team that trains on an acceptable day. If this cannot be arranged a full refund of fees will be made.

Training Venues

The Club is based at Michaels Avenue Reserve in Ellerslie. A number of teams train at this venue and at Liston Park but this space is not large enough to cater adequately for all Club teams. The Club has arrangements with a number of local schools allowing teams to train at their premises.
The  Whole of Football structures to run in 2017will enabble 6th to 8th grade players to receive a team-based training session at Michaels Avenue each week. The proposed days/times are:
6th Grade          Thursday        4:00pm to 5:00pm
7th Grade          Tuesday          4:00pm to 5:00pm
8th Grade          Wednesday     4:00pm to 5:00pm
All teams in these grades are encouraged to arrange additional team trainings at schools and other outside venues.

Playing Uniform

Teams are issued with a set of playing strip, including a goal keeper’s shirt and gloves where teams play with a keeper. Some (Metro Grade) teams are also issued with Club shorts and jackets. All items remain the property of the Club and MUST be returned at the end of the season or earlier if a player leaves the Club. The Club reserves the right to seek compensation for any club property that is damaged or not returned.

Players will normally need to provide the following items of their own:
Shin pads (players without shin pads will not be permitted to play)
            Black shorts
            Gold Socks
Shorts, socks and plus supporters items (caps, beanies, jackets etc) can be online for Score Sportswear (Lotto) via special online shops for Ellerslie players & supporters.  Click here to get more information.

Like any organisation dealing with children’s activities, the Club relies heavily on adult involvement. The vast majority of teams are coached by a parent or somebody connected to players in the team. Your family’s involvement in the activities of the Club would be greatly appreciated. Please put your name forward during the registration process and we will contact you.
In order to organise teams this year, we must have coaches and managers for all teams. Please help the Club help your children by indicating how you can help (you will be asked during the online registration process). The Club runs specialised training sessions for new coaches and managers, and supports coaches who wish to up skill through various training programs run both internally and by our parent Federation.
Contact Us if you would like to discuss ways you can help. Please volunteer to assist when asked through the online registration process.

Financial Support

In common with most community based sporting organisations, the demand for, and desire to, improve services to our members is often constrained by funding shortfalls. There is continual pressure to maintain an appropriate balance between reasonable subscriptions and fees, and providing more and improved quality services for members.
In 2017 we have committed to employing a full time Director of Junior/Youth Coaching, part-time academy coaches, operations and administration staff. We are certain these moves will continue to have tremendous benefits for player and coach development at all ages in the Junior/Youth division, enhance the opportunities for our older teenagers as they progress into Senior football and enhance the way we deliver our services to members.
We urge all members to financially support these initiatives by:
  • Paying subscriptions in full and on time
  • Adding a donation at registration time if you are in a position to do so

Contact Us if you are in a position to financially assist as a sponsor, with fundraising initiatives etc
